WEC 51: George Roop knocks out the Zombie

The Korean Zombie Chan Sung Jung came into tonight’s fight with George Roop on a high. His was coming off his lose to Leonard Garcia at WEC 48, which many believe is the fight of the year and a quickly growing fan base. Everywhere you look at MMA events, you’ll see a Korean Zombie shirt somewhere in the crowd. Even his opponent, George Roop was wearing a Korean Zombie shirt as the two came in during the weigh-in yesterday. Roop is actually a fan of Jung, but tonight the two squared off in the main card of WEC 51.
Roop came out tonight displaying sharp striking as Jung took the center of the cage methodically inching closer to Roop inch by inch. Jung didn’t show much of the reckless striking in round one that he showed in the Garcia fight. It was actually Roop that was putting together the combinations plus mixing in the leg kicks.
Round two started similar to the first, Jung seem to be having trouble timing the length of Roop, who was staying on the outside and staying light on his feet. Roop was again putting together nice combinations and throw a few punches and finished it with a left high kick that landed perfectly on the jaw of Jung. As if the kick wasn’t bad enough, as Jung was on the way down he caught himself with a knee to the nose and the fight was over.
The massive underdog, former UFC fighter and ultimate fighter alum George Roop, knocks out the Korean Zombie with a left high kick in the second round.
