Before today’s UFC 125 press conference Dana White and the UFC made a special announcement that UFC great and former light heavyweight champion Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell (21-8) has retired. The move had been talked for years really but today its official, Liddell will not be in the octagon as a fighter again.

Fans of “The Iceman” will be happy to know that he doesn’t have to look for a job after today. The UFC also announced that Liddell will now become the new executive Vice President of Business Development.

Liddell looked very uncomfortable at the podium while thanking White and Fertitta brothers for everything they have done. He even got choked up while talking and got teary eyed, knowing that he was retiring from the sport he loved.

Liddell will be missed as a fighter but he helped take the UFC to new levels as a fighter and will continue to help grow the brand to a higher point now as V.P. of Business Development.

My brain child is MMAValor, something I had wanted to do for a long time and finally it’s here. Been an MMA fan since TUF season one (play catch up all the time) and the obsession started to grow like a weed and as the sport grows so does the love for the sport. I’m a jack of all trades, a very organized person that rides an emotional roller coaster daily.
