In a last-minute wrap up of the year, the major fight promotion Strikeforce extended the contracts for multiple years on two of their biggest fan draws. Scott Croker wants to make 2011 a bigger year for Americas 2nd largest MMA organization, and he has plans for all of his top fighters. Robbie Lawler (18-6 MMA) and Nick Diaz (23-7 MMA) will continue to grace the cage with their excellent displays of striking on Showtime and on CBS if the contract continues.

Diaz is coming off of an impressive unanimous decision of the boxer in K.J. Noons where for five tough rounds he used his reach and fast accurate striking to edge out the challenger. Diaz was recently called out by another divisional superstar in Mayhem Miller, yet is scheduled to fight a power striking brawler in Evangelista Santos (18-13 MMA). Santos is coming off two 1st round knockouts and will meet Diaz on the 29th of January in San Jose in the main event.

Lawler was last seen on a beautiful night of Knock outs, where he blasted Matt Linland into La La land and even set Linland’s feet correctly to recover while he was asleep. Lawler has definitely had his ups and downs in the sport but he is on a nice tear and poses a very serious threat to the belt that Ronaldo Souza (13-2 MMA). Souza may be the most dangerous 185 lb. fighter in the world and if this goes to the mat it should finish early in his favor but Lawler has huge power in his hands and he will be hard charging for the KO every second of the fight. This fight should be a good fight, and it takes place on the same event as Diaz and his title defense.

Two great fighters and fan favorites will continue to be available for many matchups, and with Miller, Daley, Kennedy, Santos, Souza, Henderson, Le, and Sobral. Great fights will continue Strikeforce’s success, and fans can look forward to a year jam-packed with them.
