Cecil Peoples Fight of the Night Award for UFC 125

The New Year is here and the UFC has already closed the book on its first event of 2011. Live from the MGM grand in Las Vegas, UFC 125 was headlined by a lightweight title fight between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard.
The fight was a 25 minute battle that ultimately ended in a very rare title fight draw. The first round was completely dominated by Maynard who knocked down the champ three times and was very close to finishing the fight. Maynard tired himself out after the first round onslaught and never looked the same, allowing Edgar back into the fight.
With the 2010 being the year of horrible judges decisions; it’s only fitting to introduce the “Cecil Peoples Fight of the Night Award” in 2011. Every event we will pick a fight that displayed the kind of judging fans are only used to seeing from Cecil Peoples himself.
This fight scored all over the place by the fans, similar to how the actual judges had it scored. The majority thought the fight being called a draw was the right decision and that an immediate rematch is in order.
The UFC 125 “Cecil Peoples Fight of the Night Award” goes to the two judges who didn’t score the fight a draw (see the judges scoring below). In fact one judge had Maynard winning the fight by two points, while the other had Edgar winning by two points.
Congratulations go out to Judges Glenn Trowbridge and Marcos Rosales for being the inaugural winnings in 2011.
Glenn Trowbridge (48-46 Maynard) [10-8, 9-10, 10-9, 9-10, 10-9]
Marcos Rosales (48-46 Edgar) [8-10, 10-9, 10-9, 10-9, 10-9]
Patricia Morse-Jarman (47-47) [10-8 (M), 10-9 (E), 10-9 (E), 10-9 (E), 10-9 (M)]

At the risk of sounding completely stupid, how come the scores from Trowbridge and Rosales do not add up correctly. When you add up the scores posted for Trowbridge, it adds up to 48-46 for maynard, which makes since if he they scored him only losing two rounds. The score posted says 49-47 for maynard though. Same goes for the Rosales score which shows him winning every round but the 10-8 in the first, yet the score posted gives him a 49- 47 which is impossible if he scored an 8 in a round. I am no genius and don’t feel there is a conspiracy, but I am guessing there is either a typo or I just don’t know enough about scoring or addition. Someone please clarify these scores for me.
@nickC
It’s called a typo. doh! The judges had it 48-46 not 49-47, not really sure why I typed that in the first place. Thanks for the heads up man.
