MMA Valor Fighter Rankings for April 2011

urijahfaber 300x139 MMA Valor Fighter Rankings for April 2011

The month of March saw the crowning of a new UFC light heavyweight champion in Jon Jones when he defeated Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC 128. The month wasn’t filled with anymore title fights or many upper tiered bouts for that matter, causing this new rankings to look fairly close to last months.

Obviously the biggest mover this month was Jon Jones, jumping from the #4 position in the light heavyweight ranks right up to the top. Jones leaped over the man he defeated in Rua for the title, along with Rampage Jackson and the man he’ll make his first title defense against, Rashad Evans. The former teammates will fight each other later on this year, most likely around September or October.

The only other movement in the rankings was Urijah Faber making his first bantamweight appearance on the ranks after defeating former WEC bantamweight champion Eddie Wineland at UFC 128. Faber fought wineland to a unanimous decision victory and earned himself a title fight against Dominick Cruz at UFC 132 in July.

My brain child is MMAValor, something I had wanted to do for a long time and finally it’s here. Been an MMA fan since TUF season one (play catch up all the time) and the obsession started to grow like a weed and as the sport grows so does the love for the sport. I’m a jack of all trades, a very organized person that rides an emotional roller coaster daily.

Bantamweight, just because Cruz holds the belt, certainly does not mean he’s #1, especially since #2 already beat him. Faber is #1, even if Cruz holds the belt. Now if you have to place the belt holders at the top of the lists, then what about the other organizations belt holders?

  2. @finerssfv
Faber did beat Cruz already, but it was at featherweight in his WEC debut. Faber looked good in his 2nd bout at 135 so debuts on the ranks at #2 right now. The two will be fighting in July at bantamweight so let’s see what happens then.

why does no one feel that anderson silva is in the top 5 lightheavyweights of mma when he already beat the crap out of your number five at middleweight and hes got the knockout win over forrest griffin whos not a slouch but got dominated by him in the embarrassing way that ive ever seen before. i say silva could kick hendersons butt at lightheavyweight so he should be above him right.

  4. @Sean
Even if I thought that I would not put him there because he doesn’t fight in that division and has already said he doesn’t plan on a permanent move up there so he doesn’t appear on most ranks. I do think that sherdog has him in their LHW rankings

  5. i think you shouldn’t have brock below dos santos. and werdum over the ‘reem??? man you better hope he doesn’t see that shit. he’s going to eat you for breakfast next to his horsemeat protein shake

why in the fuck is Rampage even on the list??? serioiusly??? common now. no machida?
    middleweight should just say Silva.
    Welterweight is right.
    So is lightweight.
Featherweight is missing my boy Dustin Poirier.
    And i agree with bantam.

overall, i give your ranking skills a B-

give me teh shirt now :D

Brock shouldn’t even be on the damn heavyweight list, what about Shane Carwin? And come on man Werdum and Overeem above Dos Santos, please he would kick both their asses on the same damn night, as would Shane Carwin. And back to Brock, hell the dude proved that if he can’t get a hold of you and lay atop you he can’t win, the dude can’t take a powerful punch for shit. Brock doesn’t make the top five, he is just a giant man that can wrestle and not take a punch of even deliver a punch for that matter.

  7. bksunknown says:

I love Frankie Edgar but he isn’t above Maynard, no damn way he can or ever will beat Maynard, hell everyone knows he got his ass kicked the first time, he even knows it. Frankie needs to drop down to featherweight and fight Manny Gamburyan and see what happens there, if he wins which I don’t think that he will, but if he does then let him fight there. He beat the hell out of an out of shape and lazy ass B.J. Penn that really didn’t want to even fight anymore, but decided to come back and fight and caught Hughes and then got his ass handed to him by a much better fighter that no one ever gives credit to in Jon Fitch. The same man that will beat Jake Shields’ ass after Jake beats GSP

  8. bksunknown says:

and as for the LHW’s what in the fuck is Rua doing even on the list? When a “So called” Champion gets his ASS handed to him like Rua did he needs to fall to the bottom of the stack and work his way back up. He was a paper champion that faught Machida, a great fighter as long as he doesn’t get hit. Where is Forest, Forest handed Rua his first lost in the UFC on his damn debut, and Forest done it the way that Rua was suppose to, Forest beat the hell out of Rua at his own game. Rua sucked just as bad as Machida did as a champion. If you can’t take a punch get off the damn list, Machida, Lesnar, and we may never know if GSP can take a punch he hasn’t been hit since he faught Matt Serra and got knocked the fuck out, so now all he does is tackle his opponents and lay on them. C’mon MMA, quit picking fav’s and make them fight
