UFC on FX 1 Bold Predictions

| January 19, 2012 | Reply

The UFC comes to Nashville, Tennessee this Friday for UFC on FX 1. The inaugural event on FX will feature four main card bouts headlined by a lightweight clash between Jim Miller and Melvin Guillard. The night’s undercard which features six bouts will also air on free TV on the other FOX affiliate, Fuel TV.

Both Miller and Guillard are coming off losses and look to return to the win column and get back into the title hunt in the lightweight division. Miller (20-3) had won seven in a row heading into his bout with Ben Henderson, but was completely dominated for a unanimous decision loss. Guillard (29-9-2, 1nc) had won five in a row before being submitted in just 47 seconds at the hands of Joe Lauzon. Each have a lot to prove in this contest but unfortunately one of them is going to leave the Octagon on a two fight losing streak.

The other featured bout on the main card is a welterweight bout between Duane Ludwig and Josh Neer that should be a barn burner. Neer (32-10-1) returned to the UFC after nearly two-year out of the promotion to earn a TKO victory over Keith Wisniewski. He is riding a five fight winning streak and will need to avoid the heavy hands of his opponent to make it six in a row. Ludwig (21-11) evened his UFC record at 2-2 with a unanimous decision win over Amir Sadollah.

The rest of the main card will see Mike Easton make his second appearance in the UFC against newcomer Jared Papazain in a bantamweight fight, plus a heavyweight bout between Pat Barry and Christain Morecraft. The undercard starts on Fuel TV at 3pm PT / 6pm ET on Friday, leading into the main card on FX starting at 6pm PT / 9pm ET.

Main card (FX)

155 lbs.: Jim Miller will defeat Melvin Guillard by 2nd rd. Submission

  • The wrestling / grappling of Miller will weather the early storm from Guillard to secure a submission victory.

170 lbs.: Josh Neer will defeat Duane Ludwig by Unanimous Decision

  • Neer has more tools than Ludwig which will allow him to out point the heavy-handed striker.

135 lbs.: Mike Easton will defeat Jared Papazian by Unanimous Decision

  • Easton will cruise to a one-sided decision

265 lbs: Christian Morecraft will defeat Pat Barry by 2nd rd. TKO

  • Morecraft is just too big for Barr who will not be able to stand back up once taken to the canvas.

Preliminary card (Fuel TV)

185 lbs.: Jorge Rivera will defeat Eric Schafer

155 lbs.: Kamal Shalorus will defeat Khabib Nurmagomedov

170 lbs.: Charlie Brenneman will defeat Daniel Roberts

155 lbs.: Tommy Hayden will defeat Fabrício Camões

145 lbs.: Pat Schilling will defeat Daniel Pineda

135 lbs.: Nick Denis will defeat Joseph Sandoval

Last week I went a horrible 4-6 with my picks for UFC 142 and now I’m 9-10 overall. After possible the worst week of bold predictions ever, here’s to hoping for better picks this week…..
