A Few Standouts Amongst the cast of The Ultimate Fighter 15

| February 28, 2012 | Reply

The Ultimate Fighter’s 15th season had its large 32 fighter cast announced yesterday and the solid list of name are sure to bring MMA fans tuning in to see who will join the already stacked 155 lbs. division. The season will consist of live fights every Friday, with the majority of the matchups being decided by the fans. The two and a half hour season opener on March 9th will consist primarily of the 16 live fights to determine who will get into the house and here are a few of the season standouts.

Cristiano Marcello:  Marcello is most likely the BJJ wizard of this season, don’t believe it? Well turns out he gave Wand. Silva and Mauricio Shogun Rua their BJJ black belts. He’s 34 and on the tail end of his career but has more than deserved his shot at the UFC.

James Krause: The definition of a gamer he has taken many tough fights on very short notice. Squaring off with Cerrone and Imada, James never has really had the chance to get in a full camp and break out. This will be the perfect chance to tune his skills in and is a definite favorite to go far this season.

Dakota Cochrane: Cochrane has had quite the ups and downs in MMA, including a solid domination of former WEC champion Jamie Varner. While the talk has been of his background in adult film, he is a well-rounded mixed martial artist and that’s what fans should be concentrating on.

Jon Tuck: This guy is very dangerous and an Abu Dhabi gold medal winner world champion grappler, with extremely heavy hands to boot. He holds a couple first round KO’s and submissions is undefeated and just needs to break out on the MMA scene and this season will give him that chance.

Jared Carlsten:  An undefeated prospect with three submission wins that could offer a great underdog story here. Watch out super grapplers this guy is a Black belt under Eddie Bravo…. Don’t get caught in that twister.

Al  Iaquinta: A striker with good power for the lightweight division and a couple KO are under his belt. If he gets the right matchups and instruction he has the talent to move on, but could prove to be a bust against the very high level grapplers that are on this season.

Myles Jury: He’s back! After a disappointing injury on the last season of TUF Dana lived up to his word and gave him another shot. This guy can scrap and hopefully his body will hold up to push him through this season. He is 9-0 and it wouldn’t be shocked at all if he makes it to the finals.

Mike Rio: Another striker with quite a few knock outs under his belt this guy will give problems to anyone who stands and trades with him this season. With only one loss which was a decision to Efrain Escudero, Rio has high hopes for redemption and a ticket into the UFC.

Jordan Rinaldi: A solid MMA prospect who is undefeated and holds a finish over last season’s finalist Dennis Bermudez. Great grappling and wrestling knowledge along with the record that shows if he gets you down, the submission is soon to follow.

Jeremy Larsen: Another name to look out for that many won’t know too much about. Larsen was up two rounds on Efrian Escudero before he slipped into a bad position and eventually tapped to an arm bar. Since then he has compiled two solid wins and looks to continue success this season.

Daron Cruickshank:  Has proven cardio and heart this is another veteran to the fight game who may shock a few fans with some upsets. 10-2 and just seems to need the right instruction to tweak his already above par fight game.
