Mixed Martial “Artist” Mark Matthews to appear on Ink Masters Season 2

| October 9, 2012 | Reply

Mixed Martial Artist Mark Matthews is an “Artist” inside the cage as well out outside of it. The Californian fighter nicknamed “The Machine” juggles two passions on a daily basis, fighting and tattooing.

Matthews (6-5) has fought for Gladiator Challenge, Tachi Palace Fights and most recently KOTC. The middleweight is currently riding a three fight winning streak but hasn’t fought since April, not because of injury but for a chance of a lifetime. Mark Matthews has temporarily put down his MMA gloves and grabbed his tattoo kit to compete on season two of the SPIKE TV reality show “Ink Masters”.

“I was ready to walk away from tattooing for at least a year to focus on fighting,” explained Matthews. “Shortly after I made that decision, this opportunity (Ink Masters) popped up. Tattooing called me back and showed me that it wasn’t easy for me to walk away.”

Mark Matthews will start his journey tonight when the Ink Masters season 2 premieres on Spike TV tonight at 10pm ET/PT. For those unfamiliar with the show, Ink Masters is a tattoo competition where 16 artists compete for a chance at $100k. The competitors must demonstrate their skills each and every week in challenges and a weekly tattoo that will be timed, judged and ultimately determine if you’re eliminated from the competition.

Below is a sneak peek of the upcoming season, its cast and what to expect tonight.

My brain child is MMAValor, something I had wanted to do for a long time and finally it’s here. Been an MMA fan since TUF season one (play catch up all the time) and the obsession started to grow like a weed and as the sport grows so does the love for the sport. I’m a jack of all trades, a very organized person that rides an emotional roller coaster daily.
