RFA 8Circle the date Friday, June 21st on your calendar because Resurrection Fighting Alliance has two title fights planned for RFA 8 from The Rave/Eagles Club Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The promotion will introduce a new flyweight champion in the night’s main event as well as featherweight champion Jared Downing making his first title defense in the co-main event.

“With two title fights at RFA 8, we are aggressively moving forward with our goal to build RFA as a developmental organization for fighters who want to be in the UFC,” said RFA President Ed Soares.

The first ever Resurrection Fighting Alliance flyweight champion will be crowned as top prospect Sergio Pettis (7-0) will take on MMA veteran Jeff Curran (33-15-1). The youngster Pettis was just four-years old when Curran made his MMA debut back in 1998. Despite the age difference and coming off back to back losses, Curran will be the stiffest test to date for Pettis. Most believe the younger Pettis will soon be joining his brother Anthony Pettis in the UFC and with an impressive win over Curran that could become a reality.

The RFA 8 co-main event will feature Jared Downing (10-1) taking on All-American wrestler and Team Alpha Male fighter, Lance Palmer (5-0). Downing is 3-0 with Resurrection Fighting Alliance and became the featherweight champion by defeating Jordan Rinaldi last November at RFA 5. Palmer also holds a win under the RFA banner as he defeated Fredson Paixao at RFA 4 which was also in November of last year.

Also scheduled to be on the RFA 8 fight card will be Keoni Koch (5-0) and Chinzo Machida (1-2). If their last names are familiar it’s because Koch is the older brother of former UFC #1 featherweight contender Erik Koch, while Machida is the older brother of former UFC light-heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida. For those counting that makes three fighters on the card with brothers currently fighting inside the UFC Octagon.

With only a hand full of matches announced thus far, RFA 8 is already looking to be one the promotions biggest and best. Tickets for RFA 8 are now on sale but for those unable to attend, the event will air Live on AXS TV.
