MMA Valor Local Corner: The UFC Returns to Northern California

UFC on FOXThe UFC has been very busy having just finished holding three events in eight days but it seems as one event closes they announce yet another one. This time Northern California fans were the lucky recipients as the UFC announced yesterday they will hold the final UFC on FOX card of 2013 at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California on December 14th.

The last time the UFC held an event in Sacramento was in 2007 at UFC 73 when the venue was known as the Arco Arena. The event saw lightweight champion Sean Sherk and middleweight champion Anderson Silva successfully defend their titles. UFC 65 was also held there in 2006 and featured two more title fights, including Georges St-Pierre defeating Matt Hughes to become the welterweight champion.

No fights have been announced for the event but you can rest assure there will not be two title fights. There is a pretty good chance for one title fight though, considering the previous three Fox cards this year were all headlined by a title fight. Flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson was in two of those and a rematch against Sacramento bases Team Alpha Male fighter Joseph Benavidez makes the most sense. Throw in other Team Alpha Males Fighters like Urijah Faber, Chad Mendes or TJ Dillashaw and you got yourself the making for a good card. Add one of the Diaz brothers to the mix and the fans will be flocking in Sacrament, California.

San Francisco based Dragon House has announced their 15th event will take place on November 2nd at the Kezar Pavilion. The fight card is currently being assembled so check back as the event gets closer for the official Dragon House 15 fight card. World Combat Series and the MMA Evolution Expo will be returning to San Jose, California on February 8th and 9th. Their first event of 2014 promises to be the biggest one yet and should not be missed. The two-day Expo will be closed out by a full amateur MMA fight card but before that there will be tournaments and exhibitions held for many of the disciplines that put the mixed in Mixed Martial Arts. This includes Tae Kwan Do, Kickboxing, Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling and Boxing.

My brain child is MMAValor, something I had wanted to do for a long time and finally it’s here. Been an MMA fan since TUF season one (play catch up all the time) and the obsession started to grow like a weed and as the sport grows so does the love for the sport. I’m a jack of all trades, a very organized person that rides an emotional roller coaster daily.
