Lesnar is out of UFC 106, so what’s next?
According to Kevin Iole of Yahoo sports Brock Lesnar has pulled out of his fight with Shawn Carwin at UFC 106 with the flu. Now that sounds like a weak excuse but I guess he has had it for three weeks now. We have all had the flu before andif you’ve got it bad you’re bed ridden, sofor three weeks he’s been this way a can’t train I can’t blame him. Let him get better and come back 100% and fight in January or February. Now what does this mean for Shane Carwin??
Assuming he stays on the fight card he now needs a main event opponent. UFC 106 already have a solid co-main event in Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin but if Carwin stays on the card he deserves to stay as the main event. So who can the UFC get to fight him on a months notice that will make the fight a legit main event. How about Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira who just defeated Randy couture in August at UFC 102. Nogueira was close to being next in line for the title shot and the winner gets Lesnar at UFC 109. This is a solid main event and would give Carwin the biggest test to date something many have questioned. Dana White and Joe Silva let’s make this happen, you can take the credit its OK.
Note: As I’m writing this Shane Carwin through twitter is reporting that he hasn’t heard anything from the UFC, yet.
[Edited] Shane Carwin on his twitter just posted this ”I just heard from Jason. Looks like it is posponed till Jan 2. I had h1n1 myself and I understand how devastaing it can be.”
