This weekend the amateur MMA promotion World Combat Series returns to Convention Center in San Jose, California with a weekend long expo that will be capped off with the WCS 14 fight card. This years Expo is so much bigger than last time and the 14 bout MMA fight card, which takes place on Sunday, features two title fights.

As last year ended we promised that we would be adding Women’s rankings to the monthly updates of the MMA Fighter Rankings and we are very pleased to finally bring them to you. Along with the top five fighter rankings in the Men’s Flyweight – Heavyweight divisions you can now get the Women’s top five from the Atomweight – Featherweight divisions.

In the UFC on FOX 10 main event, Benson Henderson faced the former Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh Thomson. Henderson, the former UFC lightweight champion, was coming off the first round defeat at the hands of Anthony Pettis in which he lost his belt. Thomson was scheduled to face Pettis for the title last month but took this risky fight instead of waiting at home while Pettis recovers from injury.

Last week the UFC introduced the latest version of their long running MMA reality series with debut of TUF Nations: Canada vs. Australia. From a cool looking log cabin in the middle of nowhere (somewhere in Canada), the eight welterweights and eight middleweights met the coaches and began their journey.

Friday’s MFC 39 had me wondering out loud just who the heck were this guys stepping through the Maximum Fighting Championship ropes. The days of Douglas Lima, Emanuel Newton and even Ryan Jimmo are long gone and now replaced with a handful of castaways and a bunch of yet to be household names.

It seems like forever since the last Bellator event took place but season 10 for the promotion is quickly approaching. It was back in November that Bellator 109 closed out a very solid 9th season and it won’t be for another month or so before season 10 gets underway.

This Wednesday the UFC heads to Duluth, Georgia from the UFC Fight Night 35. A quick glance at the card might have you shrugging your shoulders a bit, but you might rethink that notion after you hear this.

The upcoming season of the popular reality series Survivor will feature a female MMA fighter and Police Officer named Sarah Lacina. This according to the website “True Dork Times” (no I’m not making that up), which list all the contestants for the upcoming season.
