Those of you that weren’t up late enough last night to witness the beginning of the UFC 151 rumor mill fire storm woke up today wondering what the hell the MMA community was all a buzz about. Was Dan Henderson hurt and out of his light heavyweight title fight with Jon Jones or was social media creating something that just wasn’t there.
The welterweight clash between the quick rising Rory MacDonald and the UFC legend BJ Penn will not be happening at next month’s UFC 152 in Toronto, Canada. As last night’s UFC on FOX 4 main event was getting set to start, UFC President Dana White learned that MacDonald had suffered a major cut above his right eye during training and would not be medically cleared to fight on September 22nd.
Saturday is the UFC on FOX 4 which makes it fight week and as usual UFC President Dana White has put out a Vlog giving the fans behind the scenes footage from the previous event. This Video Blog though also has Dana White at the Fantasy Factory for his birthday and he adjusts his stance on who will be next in line for the light heavyweight title.
Taking away from Dana White’s feelings about UFC 149′s performance for the masses, two fighters went in opposite directions from one another after their co-main and main event performances.
There is just over two days now until Saturday’s UFC 149 and as the UFC prepares to debut in Calgary the talk in MMA has still been around the UFC 148 event. As UFC President Dana White accumulates those frequent flyer miles from Las Vegas to Australia and then to Calgary he took the time to set up a great behind the scenes look at the biggest UFC event this year.
One of the hottest booths at last weekend’s UFC Fan Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada was the Round 5 booth. Seemingly always sporting long lines, the fans waiting in those lines would constantly be asked “who’s signing here?” but lo and behold there was no one signing at the Round 5 booth. Unlike other booths inside the Mandalay Bay convention Center, the long lines each day that were winding from the back of the Round 5 booth were for their product.
Every event Dana White will typically giveaway tickets via twitter but for this weekends UFC 148 in Las Vegas the UFC president has kicked it up a notch. The PPV event is already sold out and coincides with the UFC Fan Expo but Dana White has got those fans without a ticket covered with 10 pairs of “the best seats in the house” to giveaway on Friday.
