Several fighters went missing on the UFC website list of roster yesterday, spurning speculation of their release. Typically when a fighter gets removed from the website it a precursor to them officially being released from the UFC.
Before the UFC on FUEL TV 3: Korean Zombie vs. Poirier main card airs live on FUEL TV, the six preliminary bouts streamed on Facebook. With only one fight above the lightweight division, the prelims featured the lighter weight classes along with two former Ultimate Fighter cast members in the final two bouts before heading into the UFC on FUEL TV 3 main card.
The UFC on Fuel TV 3 weigh-ins took place, today, at the Patriot Center on the campus of George Mason University, in Fairfax, VA. All 24 fighters crossed the famed UFC weigh-in stage and all were able to successfully make-weight. So, all fights are green lighted for tomorrow night on Fuel TV.
MMA fans struggling to get through the week get a boost to help them make it to the weekend Tuesday’s UFC on Fuel TV 3: Korean Zombie vs. Poirier card. The 12 bout fight card will be split in half; six preliminary fights will steam on Facebook prior to the six main card bouts that will air on FUEL TV.
Let’s be honest, Tuesdays are useless. They’re just a day removed from Monday, but too far from the end of the week to get you excited about anything. What makes them a hell of a lot better though is some prime UFC on Fuel TV bouts. To say UFC 137 has seen one of the oddest lead ups to fight night would be an understatement. With press conference no shows, main event changes, injuries galore and a sumo fat suit at weight in, the fighters have a lot to live up to if they want to top that.
It seems as if ever couple events a fight card gets ravaged by injuries and come fight time things look completely different. Saturdays UFC 137 has suffered through four injured fighters and a press conference no-show, resulting in a title fight being scrapped and multiple fighters now staring new opponents.
It’s been literally WEEKS since the last UFC event, but somehow we’ve all survived the empty Saturday nights and lived to bet again.
