With Saturday’s UFC 154 in the books and the welterweight division now back to having just one champion, all is right in the MMA world. Ok maybe not so much, but as the 2012 begins to wind down, this past weekend was one of the best in MMA this year.
The MMA Rankings haven’t changed much over the last few months but as we enter the final two months of 2012 there are several fights slated that are sure to shake up the ranks. Last month only saw one ranked fighter enter the cage and that fight wasn’t even at his normal weight class. There was one fighter that did jump into the top five when he earned a flyweight title shot at UFC on FX 5.
Get settled in for an exciting MMA filled Friday night that begins with the UFC on FX 5 from Minneapolis, Minnesota. The free card begins with one fight on Facebook before the rest of the preliminary and entire main card are televised. The UFC on FX 5 main event features undefeated heavyweight Travis Browne taking on the man known as “big foot”, Antonio Silva.
Everyone loves Fridays because it’s the end of the work week but add a solid free UFC on FX 5 fight card to the mix and its darn near perfect. This will be the third weekend in a row with a UFC card and after last week’s Fuel TV card, its back to back free cards. Like last week, UFC on FX 5 will be headlined by two heavyweights trying to climb up the ladder towards Junior Dos Santos.
The UFC is in Minneapolis, Minnesota this weekend for Tomorrow’s UFC on FX 5 event and today all but two of the fighters stepped onto the scale. Yes I said two fighters did not weigh-in today and that is because Dennis Hallman was so far over the limits that his fight with Thiago Tavares was scrapped.
The MMA Calendar has turned to the month of October and the end of the year is within our sights. The final quarter of the year is not only filled with holidays but it also typically contains some of the best MMA action the year has to offer. October has plenty of fights, which is always great, but this month has a handful of fights that you do not want to miss.
After a bit of a drought with UFC action, we’re right in the middle of a flood with this Friday’s UFC on FX 5. Coming hot on the heels of a great card in England, FX will air a night of interesting mid-card bouts with some highly competitive match-ups. Our main event features a rising Heavyweight star in Travis Browne, as he takes a huge step up against the well-traveled Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva. We’ve got a lot of tight matches to cover, so let’s dig in and see how this little shindig will play out.
Last night the UFC returned not only to Toronto, Canada for UFC 152 but a return to action after a long six weeks absence. Not only were the fans hungry for some fighters but the fighters themselves were also ready to get back into the Octagon, as evident by their performances last night.

Due to a previously scheduled Arena Football game at the HP Pavilion, today’s UFC on FOX 7 weigh-ins were held less than a mile away at the California Theater. The small theater was completely filled with cheering fans and all the fighters they came to see made weight.

Amidst everything else going on, the UFC has themselves a busy day today with the UFC on FX 6 taking place in Australia and The Ultimate Fighter 16 finale weigh-ins. All 24 fighters made weight today for tomorrow’s event that will crown The Ultimate Fighter 16 welterweight winner.

SAN JOSE, Cal. – Still recovering from Saturday’s UFC 148, MMAValor.com was inside the HP Pavilion for today’s UFC on FUEL TV 4 weigh-ins. A few of the fighters would need to step onto the scale behind a towel but all 22 fighters on the UFC on FUEL TV 4 fight card made weight.
