The time has come, all the work has been put in and it’s finally time for UFC 142: Aldo vs. Mendes. The UFC’s second trip to Brazil in just under five months hit a pot hole at yesterdays weigh-ins as co-main event fighter Anthony Johnson massively missing the middleweight limit of 186 lbs. by a staggering 11 pounds. The fight will still take place as a catchweight bout but Johnson will lose 20% of his purse and was forced to weigh-in less than 205 lbs. today.

Like before the card is stacked with local fighters and headlined by a Brazilian champion defending his title. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission today issued its medical suspensions for Saturdays UFC 133 in Philadelphia. Seven fighters on the card were given medical suspensions ranging from 30 to 60 days, with the exception of Rafael Natal who was suspended indefinitely.

The night started out a bit slow with five straight decisions but ended with a main card that saw three fights end in the opening frame. For a card that was cursed and was filled with late replacements, it held its own with many of the past pay-per-view cards.

This Saturday, August 6th, the UFC takes over the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for UFC 133: Evans vs. Ortiz. Originally set to be a war between teammates-turned-rivals as Jon Jones defended his Light Heavyweight championship against Rashad Evans, it was then changed to a battle between wrestlers as Jones dropped out and Phil Davis filled in. It was then again changed to a rematch from four years ago as Davis had to withdraw and Tito Ortiz stepped up.
