The Polish Experiment, Krzysztof Soszynski is returning to the Octagon. Talks of his retirement apparently were just that and The Ultimate Fighter season 8 participant will fight Ednaldo Oliveira on December 15th at UFC on FX 6.
A day after the current Bellator heavyweight champion Cole Konrad surprisingly announced his retirement from the sport; the promotion introduced the finalized field for their season 7 heavyweight tournament.
Having nearly completed his one year suspension, middleweight fan favorite Chris Leben has verbally agreed to a return bout at UFC 155 on December 29th. The yearend event will see “The Crippler” face off against another brawler in Karlos Vemola, who has a finish in all nine of his wins.
Another UFC event, another fighter injured. It seems like a recurring theme these days as you can never count on a card until they actually walk out to the octagon, and even then they could get injured on the way there. The price you pay for a physical sport where the training camps are just as hard, or if not harder, then the actual fight. Think about it, fighters, eat, sleep, and train consistently. They are breaking down their bodies more than they are resting them. It will and always is an inevitable vicious cycle.
With three weeks until Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Healy in Sacramento, the promotion is starting to put together their next show on November 3rd. Heavyweights Daniel Cormier and Frank Mir now have a date set for the final Heavyweight bout under the Strikeforce banner as they will headline the Oklahoma City card.
The well-traveled lightweight and former UFC fighter Shane Nelson has signed a multi-fight deal with the Maximum Fighting Championship. The Hawaiian will make his MFC debut while also making his featherweight debut against Canadian prospect Graham Spencer at MFC 35: Explosive Encounter.
After announcing the BAMMA 10 main event between Rob Sinclair and Andre Winner, BAMMA (British Association of Mixed Martial Arts) added three more bouts to the card today. BAMMA 10 will take place on September 15th from the Wembley Arena in London, UK and tickets for the event are already on sale.
The August 3rd XFC 19: Charlotte Showdown was originally scheduled to be headlined by welterweights Corey Hill and Jason South. This past week XFC president got word that South withdrew from the fight due to personal reasons and the hunt for a replacement was underway. It didn’t take long though as legacy FC veteran Mike Bronzoulis has been tabbed as Hill’s new opponent at XFC 19.
