Tomorrow’s UFC Fight Night 31 marks the return of the UFC Fight for the Troops event. It’s been roughly 22 months since the last Fight for the Troops and let me say that it’s long over due and welcome back.
Just a week removed from one of the best fight cards of the year the UFC head’s to the UK for UFC Fight Night 30. Original the UK’s favorite fighter Michael Bisping was set to headline opposite Mark Munoz but an eye injury removed the Count and in stepped former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida.
The third championship bout between heavyweights Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos happens this weekend at UFC 166. The night’s main event is being called the “final chapter”, but with the state of the division and in all likelihood this will not be the last time these two touch gloves.
The UFC is making their monthly trip to Brazil this week for tomorrows UFC Fight Night 29: Maia vs. Shields. The entire card will air live on FOX Sports 1, but will still be broken up into a four fight preliminary card and a six fight main card.
The UFC begins their stretch run towards the end of 2013 with Saturday’s dual title fight headlined UFC 165. Over the final three and a half months of 2013 every UFC champion, except Featherweight Jose Also (injury) will be in action across 11 events.
The UFC is once again raking up the frequent flyer miles as they return to Brazil for tomorrows UFC Fight Night 28. If you’re thinking to yourself didn’t we just do this, the answer would be yes because UFC Fight Night 28 is the third UFC event in the last seven days.
Following Wednesday Fight Night 27 event, the UFC makes a quick turnaround for tomorrow’s UFC 164 from Milwaukee, Wisconsin as part of the Harley Davidson Hometown Showdown. Headlining the fight card is the UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson looking to avenge his loss to Anthony Pettis back at WEC 53.
After helping launch FOX Sports 1 last weekend the UFC returns this week with a Wednesday card from the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. While it has some big shoes to fill, UFC Fight Night 27 has the match ups to delivery another great card.

Due to a previously scheduled Arena Football game at the HP Pavilion, today’s UFC on FOX 7 weigh-ins were held less than a mile away at the California Theater. The small theater was completely filled with cheering fans and all the fighters they came to see made weight.
