With the exodus of the Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz to the UFC last year the promotion was left with a hole in the division. Now that Strikeforce and Showtime have a new deal for 2012 the first order of business is to fill the vacant welterweight and light heavyweight champions. To get there though they’ll need to find some number one contenders in each division.
From the HRH Lounge inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino today was the Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine weigh-ins. The small lounge was jam packed with fans that were all standing huddled up around the media area directly in front on the stage. All but one fighter made weight on their first attempt with Nah-Shon Burrell needing an extra hour to drop the extra pound.
The first Strikeforce event of the year kicks off the 2012 year for ZUFFA with Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine live from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. After the promotions was saved by a late new deal with Showtime, the promotion looks to re-build and re-tool.
While the Strikeforce/Zuffa/Showtime love triangle is still playing out before our eyes, we’re treated to a great night of action, complete with title fights and rising MMA stars. I have to admit, this isn’t going to be an easy card to turn a hearty profit on, but if you line up your parlays just right, you can still walk away a winner here.
The fights are over, the crowds have left the building and the circus has moved on down the road. We all saw the fights but there are different aspects to what each fight meant to the fighters and their futures. With that said,here are the real winners and losers of Strikeforce: Emelianenko vs. Henderson.
The Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, just outside of Chicago was rocking tonight as two Mixed Martial Arts legends faced off. Fedor Emelianenko, riding his first ever two fight losing streak took on Dan Henderson in an epic clash of the titans.

In a previous interview with Bloody Elbow, Paul “Semtex” Daley appeared to be looking past his then scheduled opponent, Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos, as he openly discussed his ongoing feud with Dana White, and the possibility of someday returning to the UFC:

Due to a previously scheduled Arena Football game at the HP Pavilion, today’s UFC on FOX 7 weigh-ins were held less than a mile away at the California Theater. The small theater was completely filled with cheering fans and all the fighters they came to see made weight.

Amidst everything else going on, the UFC has themselves a busy day today with the UFC on FX 6 taking place in Australia and The Ultimate Fighter 16 finale weigh-ins. All 24 fighters made weight today for tomorrow’s event that will crown The Ultimate Fighter 16 welterweight winner.

SAN JOSE, Cal. – Still recovering from Saturday’s UFC 148, MMAValor.com was inside the HP Pavilion for today’s UFC on FUEL TV 4 weigh-ins. A few of the fighters would need to step onto the scale behind a towel but all 22 fighters on the UFC on FUEL TV 4 fight card made weight.
