Today the news broke of the main event between Brock Lesnar & Shane Carwin would be pushed back until early 2010. Lesnar has been dealing with an illness for three weeks now and hasn’t been able to train so he requested the fight be moved. Now that the fight has been pushed back it leave a hugh hole in the one two punch that was the UFC 106 co-main events. Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin is still slotted in as the co-main event and could be moved into the main event but the card needs another main event caliber fight.

There isn’t any championship fights available to fill that slot but there are some interesting names out there. Fighters like Nogueira, Marquardt, Florian and Liddell could easily anchor a fight worthy of co-main event status. Other fighters like Dos Santos, Paul Daley, Koscheck and Maia could fill in if paired with a solid opponent. Then there is the wild card, Kimbo Slice vs. anyone as the co-main event. Here are my ideas and let me know what you got.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Cain Velasquez – Quick turnaround for Cain but he didn’t take much damage. Winning get the next title shot.

Nate Marquardt vs. Dan Henderson- Sign Hendo and garentee him a rematch with Anderson silva with a win.

Kimbo Slice vs. Houston Alexander- A rumored fight for UFC 107, more it up a few weeks and Kimbo will bring the PPV buys.

Josh Koscheck vs. Paul Daley – A solid fight at welterweight, but not sure if it’s strong enough for a co-main event.

[Edited] Josh Koscheck via twitter announced today “I got some big fight news for me. I am fighting nov 21 in Vegas. Co main event!!! Haha it’s on baby!!!!” Could it be Koscheck vs. Daley or maybe it’s gonna be Koscheck vs. Hughes, what do you think of the choice?
