Whats next for the prodigy BJ Penn?

After suffering his seventh career loss, once regarded as one of the best pound for pound fighters has left the fans wondering what’s next.  BJ Penn has destroyed everyone in the Lightweight class, and though suffering some losses over his career, most have been moves up in weight for more challenging fights. Bj has shown us what it takes for a fighter to come out in the first and “Just Scrap” and finish his fights in brutally bloody fashion. For quite some time BJ was the gold standard for a tough UFC fighter and everyone in the UFC Lightweight division seemed to be ages behind him in skill. His great talent changed and evolved the fight game, and now at what seems to be the later part of his career we have a new breed of UFC lightweights that are heavily skilled in all aspect of MMA.

Randy Couture defeats James Toney as most expected

Last night’s UFC 118 fight between Randy Couture and James Toney went as most MMA fans expected, with Randy making short order of Toney. Couture secured a quick victory over Toney at 3:19 in the first round via submission by an arm triangle.

Many fans were looking forward to the fight and were heavily discussing strategies, advantages and drawbacks of the fighters as well as possible outcomes as it was an interesting match up between an MMA legend and a major boxing superstar. This was a chance for Toney to show that a boxer can transition into MMA and be an effective opponent despite obvious drawbacks that standup only fighters have against a well-rounded mixed martial artist with a clear wrestling advantage such as Couture.
