Another week of UFC action, and you can’t argue about the UFC on FUEL TV 8 card not being of PPV quality. This installment features important fights in the Middleweight division with Stann, Wandy, Okami and Lombard all in the mix. Plus we get the return of Diego Sanchez, and much more.
The UFC on Fuel TV 6 had a good turnout despite being aired at five in the morning for West coasters. Though with the glorious invention of the DVR system and the replay later in the day, many were able to catch the fights at a more appropriate time that didn’t interfere with their sleep schedule.
The next stop on the UFC’s global expansion, the Octagon will be erected in the Las Vegas of Asia for UFC: Macao. With a card full of Asian talent and some highly competitive match-making, this is a can’t miss event and one we can all see for free as well. Our main event is between two old lions of the Middleweight division as former UFC champion Rich Franklin faces former Strikeforce champion Cung Le. We’ve got plenty of ground to cover, so let’s dig in to this exquisite card and see how all the pieces fit together. Now, onto the fights!
Today the Nevada State Athletic Commission released the UFC 148 salaries as well as handing down their medical suspensions to half of the fight card. The 11 bout fight card had a total reported salary of $1.438 million and rumored gate of a new UFC record $7 million for shows in the United States.
Silva/Sonnen, Ortiz/Griffin III, Cung Le/Patrick Cote etc. All the big boys step to the Octagon beginning for the UFC 148 main card at 7PM PST. If you can’t catch the fights on PPV on in person, you can catch the results here, as they happen.
The UFC 148 weigh-ins were one of, if not the most intense weigh-ins the UFC has ever had. Everyone knew the Anderson Silva / Chael Sonnen stare down was going to be insane but who knew that so many other stare downs would bring an intensity level so think you needed to cut it with a chain saw.
The combo weekend of the UFC Fan Expo and UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen 2 is finally here. It’s a weekend that many MMA fans have had circled on their calendars for months and this Friday and Saturday in Las Vegas will be one BIG Mixed Martial Arts party.
After the confusing main event at UFC on FX 4 and the nameless UFC 147 card, it’s nice to see a quality PPV worth laying your money down on with UFC 148. Last night the fighters for tonight’s Bellator 100 stepped onto the scales with all 24 fighters making weight. The historic 100th event for Bellator takes places tonight from the Grand Canyon University Arena in Phoenix, Arizona and features an all welterweight main card on Spike TV.

Due to a previously scheduled Arena Football game at the HP Pavilion, today’s UFC on FOX 7 weigh-ins were held less than a mile away at the California Theater. The small theater was completely filled with cheering fans and all the fighters they came to see made weight.

Amidst everything else going on, the UFC has themselves a busy day today with the UFC on FX 6 taking place in Australia and The Ultimate Fighter 16 finale weigh-ins. All 24 fighters made weight today for tomorrow’s event that will crown The Ultimate Fighter 16 welterweight winner.
