Look past the dark clouds formed by three main card decisions and you’ll find some fighters that impressed, even in defeat.

Over the past couple months, many of Strikeforce’s fighters have crossed over and competed in the UFC Octagon. At tonight’s UFC on FOX 2, “Big” Lavar Johnson (15-5) will become the next Strikeforce fighter to cross over into the UFC. Waiting for him across the cage will be Joey “The Mexicutioner” Beltran (13-6), who has been on a rough patch lately having gone 1-3 in his last four fights. The first official UFC on FOX card has finally arrived and despite a late change to the main card the UFC has put together a very competitive and meaningful card on FOX. The night’s main card will feature three fights on Fox following the eight bout preliminary card that will air on Fuel TX. Originally all three main card bouts held title shot implications for the winner, but an injury to Mark Munoz forced him out against Chael Sonnen and moved Michael Bisping up the card. Chris Weidman was then tabbed to replace Bisping, who was scheduled to face Demian Maia to open the main card.

Having learned from the folly of the previous UFC on Fox, we’re treated to three fights this time out on the main broadcast, as well as a packed Fuel TV undercard. The main event is a long time in the making it seems, as Rashad Evans once again tries to grab a title shot, taking on undefeated Phil Davis. On top of light heavyweight title implications, we’re also treated to a number one contender bout between Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping as well as another solid matchup with Demien Maia facing Chris Weidman to open the Fox curtain.
