Tyson Griffin vs Evan Dunham at UFC 115
Tyson Griffin vs. Evan Dunham is set to headline the preliminary card at UFC 115 that will be featured free on Spike TV.
Tyson Griffin has a very impressive MMA record of 14-2 and is coming off a KO win over Hermes Franca at UFC 103. Tyson started his MMA career in 2004 where he fought for Gladiator Challenge based out of California. He had some very impressive fights while there and handed Urijah Faber his first defeat in 2005 where Tyson KO’d Faber in the 3rd round. Tyson won the Lightweight belt in defeating Faber that night but only defended it twice. Tyson also fought once in strike force scoring an impressive TKO in 1st round before receiving many offers from Pride, Strike force and UFC. Tyson decided to take the offer UFC gave him. In 2006 at UFC 63 Tyson made his UFC debut with a submission over David lee, he is currently 7-2 in the UFC. Tyson is considered one of the best 155 lightweights fighters in the world but hasn’t climbed the ladder high enough to get a title shot.
Tyson opponent is Extreme Couture teammate Evan Dunham (10-0) who also started his MMA career with Gladitor challenge in 2007. Dunham made his UFC debut in 2009 at UFC 95 against Per Eklund in which he won by TKO in 1st round. Dunham most recently defeated Ultimate Fighter season 8 winner Efrain Escrudero by 3rd round armbar at UFC fight night 20, the armbar won him submission of the night honors. The fight was the nights main event and easily the biggest victory of his career thus far but facing Griffin will pose another step up in competition. With Tyson wrestling background and boxing and with Evan Jui-Jitsu, and wrestling background this is bound to be an epic battle. The winner will take one step higher on on the UFC Lightweight ladder and closer to a possible title shot. The Loser will need to pick up the pieces and try to get himself back in the win column.
