UFC 123 Weigh in Recap and Pictures
Earlier today the UFC held the weigh-ins for tomorrows UFC 123 at The Palace of Auburn Hills in the Detroit suburb of Auburn Hills, Michigan. All fighters made weight today but there were some interesting highlights, plus check out some pictures from the event.
Main event:
205 lbs.: Lyoto Machida (205 lbs.) vs. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (205 lbs.)
- Fans seem to be behind Rampage and Dana White had to step between the two as Rampage looked to intimidate.
Main card (Televised):
170 lbs.: BJ Penn (169 lbs.) vs. Matt Hughes (169 lbs.)
- Nice show of respect from the two before, during and after the stare down.
205 lbs.: Tim Boetsch (205 lbs.) vs. Phil Davis (205 lbs.)
- Davis seemed very interested in watching himself the whole time on the big screen.
155 lbs.: Joe Lauzon (155 lbs.) vs. George Sotiropoulos (155 lbs.)
- Great stare down between the two and this should be an excellent fight.
185 lbs.: Gerald Harris (185 lbs.) vs. Maiquel Jose Falcao Goncalves (185 lbs.)
- Falcao looked lost out there, waiting to be directed at each stage of the weigh-in process.
Spike TV Prelims (Televised):
170 lbs.: Matt Brown (170 lbs.) vs. Brian Foster (170 lbs.)
- Foster came out pretty pumped up while Brown looked very intense, especially at the stare down.
185 lbs.: Mark Munoz (185 lbs.) vs. Aaron Simpson (185 lbs.)
- Instead of the traditional standup stare down they went with the wrestling pose.
Under card (May not be broadcast):
170 lbs.: Dennis Hallman (170 lbs.) vs. Karo Parisyan (170 lbs.)
- Hallmen came out wearing the superman underoos and Parisyan looked rather loose in the midsection.
155 lbs.: Darren Elkins (155 lbs.) vs. Edson Barboza (155 lbs.)
- Barboza is the much taller and lanky fighter and doesn’t look to have an ounce of body fat.
155 lbs.: Paul Kelly (155 lbs.) vs. T.J. O’Brien (155 lbs.)
- T.J. O’Brien looked really drawn out from the weight cut. Good stare down between the two and they didn’t shake hands.
155 lbs.: Nik Lentz (155 lbs.) vs. Tyson Griffin (155 lbs.)
- Both fighters look ready to go.
