Now Its Matt Hamill who is Rumored to Fight Rampage Jackson at UFC 130
Just days ago rumors began to circulated that Rashad Evans was set to fight Rampage Jackson, replacing Thiago Silva who was pulled from the bout for undisclosed reasons. But now it seems Matt “The Hammer” Hamill will be the one taking on the former light heavyweight champion Rampage Jackson at UFC 130.
Hamill coming off of a dominating performance over former light heavyweight champ Tito Ortiz, was scheduled to fight at UFC 129 against the undefeated Phil Davis, who has fought 4 times in 2010 and took home all 4 wins. The UFC took down the Phil Davis/Matt Hamill fight from their site, insinuating that Hamill is indeed out of the fight with Davis and in for Thiago Silva to fight Rampage Jackson.
The status of Silva is unclear right now because earlier this week the Nevada State Athletic Commission revealed that his UFC 125 drug screen was still under investigation. This is not to say that Silva test was dirty and as of today the NSAC hadn’t filed ant formal complaint against Silva, but it seems to UFC would rather be safe then sorry.
UFC 130 will be held in Las Vegas on May 30th and has a stacked card that is headlined by Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard 3 for the lightweight title.
MMAJunkie is reporting that “Verbal agreements for the contest are in place, and bout agreements are expected to be finalized shortly.”
