Sometimes you can’t catch a break. Ken Shamrock, who was scheduled to meet Anthony Rea tonight at WEF in Orlando, was forced off the card when he came down with MRSA while taking care of his son who also has staph.
Shamrock was told by medical officials to withdraw from the event, and placed on antibiotics. A replacement fighter, Robert Wince was found in time for the fight to go forward with Ken Shamrock. The event features Seth Petruzelli facing David Mewborn in the main event.
What will come next for the 47 year old MMA pioneer is anyone’s guess, but reports of a rematch with Mike Bourke have been scoffed at by Shamrock and the rumor of Ken Shamrock meeting Dan Severn at a King of the Cage event later this year could not be confirmed. It’s a big disappointment for Ken Shamrock, as well as the WEF promotion. Also on tonight’s card is undefeated heavyweight prospect, Chris Barnett meeting Walt Harris.
