Nate Marquardt out of the UFC Live on Versus 4 Main Event and the UFC
UFC President Dana White released a video via his Twitter account earlier today stating that Nate “The Great” Marquardt has failed his medical clearance and has subsequently been released from the UFC roster altogether. The video was posted a mere hour before the weigh-ins for tomorrow night’s UFC Live event in Pittsburgh.
Charlie Brenneman, whose original opponent, T.J. Grant, bowed out of their matchup earlier this week due to illness, has been tapped to replace Marquardt against Ricky Story. The original co-main event of Cheick Kongo vs. Pat Barry has been promoted to the main event and the Story vs. Brenneman matchup is now scheduled to be the co-main event.
Reasons for Marquardt’s failed clearance and eventual outright release from the promotion have yet to given. Also, it remains to be seen what is next for the one-time middleweight title challenger. Once more news is released on the situation we will pass it along.
