UFC on FOX Hot Seat: It all comes down to two Fights

| November 10, 2011 | Reply

Saturdays UFC on FOX is quite possibly the most important event the Ultimate Fighting Championship has ever held as they make their debut on network TV. The one hour event will air just the heavyweight championship between Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos.

While the main event is the showcase of the event, there are two preliminary bouts airing on both Facebook.com and Foxsports.com that have all four fighters in must win situations.

135 lbs.: Alex Caceres vs. Cole Escovedo

Alex “Bruce Leroy” Caceres has been submitted via a rear naked choke in his two UFC bouts his appearance in the 12th season of the Ultimate Fighter. He looked much better in his last outing against Jim Hettes but the results were the same. Cole Escovedo has lost four of his last five but has faced tough competition in his two UFC bouts. The loser will leave the Octagon 0-3 in the UFC and that just doesn’t bode well for a fourth fight.

170 lbs.: DaMarques Johnson vs. Clay Harvison

Ultimate Fighter contestants DaMarques Johnson and Clay Harvison are each coming off a submission loss. Tapping out due to strikes from Amir Sadollah, Johnson is just 3-3 in the UFC and is just 1-2 in his last three. The TUF season 9 runner-up has not been able to find consistency in the big show and as the losses add up so does the probability on him losing his job. Harvison lost in the quarterfinals of TUF 13 and is just 1-1 thus far in the UFC. Dropping his second in a row and moving to 1-2 against three former TUF contestants doesn’t scream bright future ahead for the welterweight.

Fighters with their backs against the wall typically lay it all on the line. With both fighters in desperation mode these two fights could surprise fans with a fight of the night performance.

My brain child is MMAValor, something I had wanted to do for a long time and finally it’s here. Been an MMA fan since TUF season one (play catch up all the time) and the obsession started to grow like a weed and as the sport grows so does the love for the sport. I’m a jack of all trades, a very organized person that rides an emotional roller coaster daily.
