Alex Caceres vs. Jim Hettes at UFC on Versus 5, following injury to Garcia

August must be the month of injuries of the UFC! The UFC on Versus 5 undercard bout between Alex Caceres and Leonard Garcia had been reshuffled following an undisclosed injury to Garcia. Stepping in to face Caceres will be undefeated UFC newcomer Jim Hettes, who recently inked a deal with the promotion.

Hettes (8-0) was actually look at by the promotion last year but was unable to sign a contract due to obligations with another promotion. The Pennsylvania based fighting has a Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu background, having finished all of his fights via submission. A former Pennsylvania Cage fights Series and MASS featherweight champion, Hettes is coming off a second round submission victory against Jacob Kirwan less than three weeks ago.

Caceres or “Bruce Leroy” as he was known on the 12th season of the Ultimate Fighter is coming of a quick submission loss to Mackens Semerzier last March in his UFC debut. The always smiling Caceres made it to the quarterfinals on the show but was unable to fight on the finale due to injury. Caceres comes into this bout on shaky ground though, having lost his UFC debut and only winning one of his last four fights.

Both featherweights will come into the bout looking for their first UFC win, but Caceres has already experienced the bright lights on the big stage once before. Both come in with eight professional bouts, but it is Hettes that has accomplished more in those limited bouts.

The Caceres vs. Hettes undercard bout is expected to stream live on Facebook on August 14th. UFC on Versus 5 will be the first show in the state of Wisconsin for the Ultimate Fighting Championship and will take place at the Bradley Center.
