Aaron Simpson: UFC on Fuel TV 3 Q&A Recap
Aaron Simpson was the fighter of choice to appear at the UFC on Fuel TV 3 pre-weigh-in Q&A. Simpson, the Arizona native, was quite entertaining and very engaging with the Fairfax crowd, even though he was working off only 4 hours of sleep.
Fans were able to ask Aaron Simpson questions and were even treated to a fight announcement and some predictions, the following are some of the highlights from today’s Q&A:
Q: How do you prepare for your fights?
A: “I never really stop training. With my teammates Ryan Bader, CB Dollaway and Seth Baczynski constantly having fights I am always training with those guys, who keep me fit. I always stay in some sort of shape. I usually hold 8 week training camps, with 2 or 3 a day’s….I’m getting older, so sometime its no-a-days.”
Q: Why the move down to Welterweight?
A: “I walk around at 193 pounds. Most of my opponents are walking around at well over 200 lbs.”
Q: What is your biggest anxiety about dropping from Middleweight to Welterweight?
A: “The weight cut. I will probably go vegan for this training camp. I am working with George Lockhardt who says the cut won’t be nearly as difficult as I think. At age 37, I haven’t weight 171 pounds since my Senior year in high school.”
Q: Who would be your dream fight at Welterweight?
A: GSP. Only because he has a torn ACL right now. I think now is the time to get him. Actually, I will be fighting Jon Fitch on July 11th for my first fight at Welterweight.”
Q: Who would you want to fight if you could fight any MMA fighter of all time?
A: I think I would like to fight Tank Abbott…..right after he got off a bar stool. Don Frye would be cool. Dan Severn would be fun. We are both Sun Devils
Q: Who will win the fight, tomorrow night, between Poirier and the Korean Zombie?
A: Poirier in the 2nd.
Q: How about Cerrone v. Stephens?
A: Cerrone will get “back on the horse” with what should be a win vs. Stephens.
