Amir Sadollah Returns Against Lopez at UFC on Fuel TV 3
After winning Season 7 of The Ultimate Fighter, Amir Sadollah (5-3) has had his share of peaks and valleys. In his first fight after TUF, and also his first fight at Welterweight, Amir lost via controversial TKO to Johny Hendricks in just twenty-nine seconds of the first round. Fortunately for him, he was able to bounce right back just three months later and pick up a decision victory over Phil Baroni in a very one-sided fight. Two months after that, he was right back in The Octagon again and picked up another tough decision victory over Brad Blackburn and it seemed like Amir was back in his groove.
In his next bout though, he took a step up in competition and faced Dong-Hyun Kim; a fight he ended up losing via decision. With his second career loss under his belt, Amir came back out and strung together back-to-back victories over Peter Sobotta (decision) and DaMarques Johnson (submission via strikes).
Before facing Johnson, Amir was originally scheduled to face Duane “Bang” Ludwig, but the bout was cancelled due to an injury to Ludwig suffered during training. Five months later, after Ludwig healed up, the bout was rescheduled and was as exciting as many had hoped for. Unfortunately for Sadollah, he was on the losing end of a close decision.
Up until this point in his career, Amir Sadollah had an average of 3-4 months between fights. However, after his loss to Ludwig, Amir suffered an injury before his scheduled bout against Jorge Lopez and had to withdraw. Nine months later, the longest period of time between bouts for Amir, the bout with Lopez is back on and set to go down on May 15 at UFC on Fuel TV 3.
Lopez, who came up short in his UFC debut (Unanimous Decision loss to Justin Edwards) will definitely be looking to get his first victory in The Octagon and get his UFC career on the right track. For Sadollah, a victory against Lopez will prevent him from losing back-to-back fights for the first time in his career and get him back on the winning path.
