Georges St Pierre Cleared, Carlos Condit gets to Training!
The bionic right knee of the UFC welterweight champion Georges St Pierre has been cleared for takeoff. News of the champ being medically cleared came from St. Pierre himself today via his twitter account. The news means all systems are a go for his UFC 154 welterweight unification bout against the interim champion Carlos Condit.
Georges St Pierre hasn’t defended his welterweight crown since April of last year when he defeated Jake Shields in the main event of the historic UFC 129 event. The champ was supposed to fight Nick Diaz but a torn ACL suffered while practicing wrestling in December put the champ on the shelf and opened the door for Carlos Condit.
The New Mexico native faced Diaz for the interim welterweight title back in February at UFC 143 where he earned a decision victory. Instead of defending his newly minted interim belt, Condit decided to wait for the champs return and today released a training video for the start of his UFC 154 training camp.
Georges St Pierre and Carlos Condit is expected to be the UFC 154 main event, which takes place at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
