UFC 152 square 240x200 The UFC 152 Main Card is More than just Jon JonesJon Jones this, Jon Jones that, Jon Jones Jon Jones Jon Jones.  That name has been in the headlines for the past four weeks after the collapse of UFC 151. But now that its done and over with, we finally have a fight card on our hands that MMA fans can actually say, “it’s a pretty stacked card.” Besides the obvious main event that has been beaten longer than a dead horse, let’s take a look and preview other fights on the UFC 152 main card that are potentially being overshadowed by all this hoopla.

Joseph Benavidez vs. Demetrious Johnson. Besides the light heavyweight crown on the line the UFC will also crown its first ever flyweight champion in the UFC 152 co-main event. This match is going to involve speed, quickness, and technique that will easily be missed if you fans even leave the room for a second. Flyweight Fighters are quick enough as it is, throw in possibly the two quickest and it should be a good fight.

Michael Bisping vs. Brian Stann. Here is a fight that I think many have wanted to see for a while, and well here we have it. Both are dynamic strikers that are very good on their feet and prefer to stand but are also easily overlooked at what many consider an underrated ground game. It’s a very tough match up to call which is why it is a very intriguing fight that will raise the bar for the rest of the night.

Matt Hamill vs. Roger Hollett. Matt Hamill is fighting again? I know right. Not what many people expected to hear or even bothered to think about. But don’t let this fight fool you though. Just cause you think they aren’t big names doesn’t mean that it will be boring. It will be considered a wrestling vs grappler match with each fighter having the ability to KO each other in any second. Don’t miss it.

Charles Oliveira vs. Cub Swanson. This fight opens the UFC 152 main card and is a possible FOTN candidate. Both fighters are going to want to put on a show for the all the fans, so look for this fight to be on the feet most of the time. Swanson is looking to make it three in a row and climb his way up the ladder while his opponent, Oliveira, is also 2-0 since making the transition to 145lbs. Its going to be a fight that will set the tone for the night and the start off the PPV in style.

I am just a guy who is a BJJ practitioner and loves MMA. I'd be lying if I said I was a fan of MMA from the very start. I do remember watching guys like Oleg Taktarov and Paul “Polar Bear” Varlens but the sport just didn’t catch on to me, so I went back to pro wrestling. It wasn’t until I saw BJ Penn vs Din Thomas at UFC 32 that opened my eyes to the sport and my favorite MMA fighter of all time, The Prodigy BJ Penn. From then on I’ve aspired to contribute to the MMA community as much as I can whether it’s through articles, learning photography for live events, or taking video to create video logs or highlight videos for everyone to enjoy and see.
