The Fight Report: This weekends TUF Finales

In some tricky scheduling, we have two TUF Finales in two days, with TUF: The Smashes and TUF 16: Carwin vs. Nelson. While Carwin vs. Nelson itself will be put on the shelf due to Carwin’s knee injury, we’re still treated to a solid card with Matt Mitrione stepping in on short notice against Nelson. Being as us American folks missed out of The Smashes, I’ll be combining these two cards into one epic fight report for your reading pleasure, so let’s dig into the massive report.

The UFC on FX: Johnson vs. McCall Main Card Saves day, Steals Bonuses

The UFC on FX: Johnson vs. McCall main card saved the day tonight and the bonuses they collected is all the proof needed. The prelims dragged on at a grinding pace, saw the referees make several questions calls and one judge see a fight in the complete opposite direction as the others.

Live from South Florida by way of the Harley-Davidson Hometown Throwdown, the UFC lands in the BankAtlantic Center with 12 bouts across Facebook, FUEL TV and concluding on FX.

If the stars align and or people can add, Tomorrows UFC on FX: Johnson vs. McCall will finally set up the promotions first ever flyweight championship fight. The two fighters that ushered the flyweights into the UFC will now be the first 125 pound fighters to headline a UFC card as Demetrious Johnson and Ian McCall look to earn a title shot against Joseph Benavidez.

One of the best fights with the oddest conclusion will get its do-over as the main event of UFC on FX: Johnson vs. McCall, as “Uncle Creepy” Ian McCall takes on Demetrios “Mighty Mouse” Johnson. With a bungle on the score cards, this fight was denied its 4th and final “Sudden Victory” round, so we’ll be getting a full replay of two elite Flyweights in action.

This Friday night the UFC brings the Flyweight rematch between Demetrious Johnson and Ian McCall to Florida as the headliner of UFC on FX: Johnson vs. McCall. The event landed in Florida as part of the Harley Davidson Home Town Throw down and if the judges can add correctly will determine who will face Joseph Benavidez in the first ever UFC Flyweight title fight. The UFC on FX: Johnson vs. McCall card will feature 12 bouts overall, with a main card of four.

John Hathaway Dominates in UFC Return

After longer than a year off due to an undisclosed injury, John Hathaway (16-1) returned to his fighting ways at last weekend UFC on FOX 3. Hathaway faced the tough German Pascal Krauss, a formerly undefeated rising prospect out of team Roufusport. In the fight Hathaway proved to have the more effective striking and grappling by completely dominating Krauss for a unanimous decision.
