Yet another Strikeforce fighter tested positive for a performance enhancing drug in back to back events. The Nevada State Athletic Commission announced that former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal failed his drug test for his January 7th fight with Lorenz Larkin.
The dust has settled from Saturday’s Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine card in Las Vegas and despite some questionable decisions from the judges and referee’s, the fighters put on a show for the fans in attendance. Things started out with four undercard bouts premiering on Showtime Extreme which lead into the night’s five card main event on Showtime.
Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson don’t like each other, that’s evident by their ongoing twitter war of words. Lawal made short work of Lorenz Larkin at last night’s Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine by finishing the rising prospect via first round TKO. After the fight, during the post fight press conference, Lawal was asked about his buddy and the always entertaining “King Mo” didn’t disappoint.

The next Strikeforce card had been rumored to be on March 3rd but during the Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine main card Scott Coker made it official. Coker would re-announce the event date and list the current fight card during the post fight press conference.

With the exodus of the Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz to the UFC last year the promotion was left with a hole in the division. Now that Strikeforce and Showtime have a new deal for 2012 the first order of business is to fill the vacant welterweight and light heavyweight champions. To get there though they’ll need to find some number one contenders in each division.
From the HRH Lounge inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino today was the Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine weigh-ins. The small lounge was jam packed with fans that were all standing huddled up around the media area directly in front on the stage. All but one fighter made weight on their first attempt with Nah-Shon Burrell needing an extra hour to drop the extra pound.
