Donald Cerrone Wants Cole Miller Next

This past week, we saw the WEC era come to an end. As bittersweet as it was, many extraordinary fights took place as the event ran its course. The two things that stick out in most people minds were Ken Stone being knocked out cold be Eddie Wineland from a slam and of course the crazy cage kick from Anthony Pettis in the main event.

Jamie Varner: Will He Stay or Will He Go??

For Jamie Varner, 2010 is a year that he should try to forget. The former WEC Lightweight Champion went 0-3-1 for the year and had very little success in the cage in 2010. On Thursday evening, Varner suffered another loss, pushing his record to 16-5-1 with two no contests.  This recent trend of losses has caused quite a stir and now many are speculating if the onetime WEC belt holder would be handed his walking papers by Zuffa.

The WEC 53 Undercard Steals the Show

December 16, 2010 marked the last event for the WEC. The entire card was stacked from top to bottom with exciting matchups to end the promotion with the best fights possible.

Not only did the show live up to the hype, it was the undercard that really shined. Despite the great performances by Dominick Cruz and Anthony Pettis, who both walked out of the cage as the last men to hold their respective belts, it isn’t often that the bottom half of the card puts on the kind of show as seen in Glendale last night.

WEC 53: The Kick of the year Gif

What better way to end the WEC then with one of the most amazing kicks the MMA world has ever seen. In the final round of the WEC 53 main event the challenger, Anthony Pettis used the cage to spring off a land a right kick to the jaw of the champion. Some how Ben Henderson wasn’t out cold and survived the round but ultimately lost the fight and his belt.
