Fighters losing my respect
I have always had a lot of respect for MMA fighters. They put it all at risk every time they step into the cage/ring. They train their ass off everyday risking injury to make a living getting beat up.
I have begun to lose respect towards certain fighters though. Fighters that don’t seem to want to fight or that are not in shape are a quick way to lose my respect. Recently fighters like Anderson Silva, Dan Henderson & Rampage Jackson have started to lose my respect.
Silva has been slowing been losing my respect with his toying of fighters during the fight plus his constant talk of wanting to box. Now the games him and his manager are playing is just bush league. Trying to play match maker then when that doesn’t work claim an elbow injury. He is a great fighter but all the crap he pulls is wearing on me.
Dan Henderson is only on here because he’s acting like a little babyof his recent comments. Henderson thought he was getting the first shot at Anderson Silva’s middleweight belt after he won at UFC 100. When Nate Marquardt beat Demian Maia at UFC 102 and Dana White said Henderson wasn’t guaranteed the title shot Henderson got mad. Taking his ball and going home he stated he wants to fight Silva or he’ll more to light heavyweight. Come on man if you want Anderson Silva you fight who they put in front of you until you get there.
Then we come to Rampage Jackson, who has decided to try acting over fighting. Jackson had turned down a fight with light heavyweight champ Loyota Machida to coach the Ultimate Fighter and fight Rashad Evans. Evans and Jackson have some bad blood so this move made sense. His move to play BA Baracus over fighting does not though. A fighter doing a little acting is one thing but when the acting is affecting their fighting then it’s a problem. You guys are fighters first and not actors get in the cage and fight.
What do you guys think?
[EDITED] That MMA guy brought to my attention I was being a bit harsh on Hendu. I agree the baby remark wass not justified and I have fixed it. I stand by the rest though, but want to add that I still have allot of respect for Henderson but acting like that tarnished that a little.
