This Thursday Connecticut’s Will Kerr (9-2 MMA, 1-1 WEC) will meet Team Alpha Male’s Danny Castillo (9-3 MMA, 4-3 WEC) at WEC 53 at the Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, Arizona on December 16. Their fight will be part of the nights undercard on this heavily stacked card that will close out the promotion.

Kerr looks to continue his winning ways after making quick work of Karen Darabedyan in his last appearance at WEC 49.  Kerr, a heavy-handed striker, demonstrated his well-roundedness and his progression as a mixed martial artist by swiftly submitting Darabedyan via arm bar in just over a minute in the first round.   The victory returned Kerr to the win column, as he now won 6 of his last 7 fights.

Danny “Last Call” Castillo is entering the cage coming off of a unanimous decision victory over Dustin Poirier at WEC 50 in August. Prior to his decision victory, “Last Call” had dropped a pair of losses in the cage, including suffering a KO loss to WEC 53 Lightweight title contender and main event challenger Anthony Pettis early this year.

Both fighters bring an exciting brand of striking to the cage. While both fighters like to stand and bang, this fight may end up being decided on the ground.  A victory for either fighter will establish them within the lightweight division and should most certainly ensure them a bout on an upcoming UFC fight.
