Seven Fighters receive Medical Suspensions Following UFC on FX 3
Less than a third of the UFC on FX 3 fighters were issued medical suspensions today by the Florida State Boxing Commission, who oversaw Friday’s event. In all there were seven fighters suspended out of the overall 24 UFC on FX 3 fighters.
The longest suspension went to Matt Grice who was given an indefinite medical suspension following his unanimous decision win over Leonard Garcia. According to MMAJunkie.com the lengthy time off appears to be due to a broken foot Grice suffered during the fight and he requires orthopedic clearance before he can return.
Also suspended were the three fighters on that card who were knocked out. They include main card fighters Josh Neer and Scott Jorgensen, who received 60 day suspensions for their losses to Mike Pyle and Eddie Wineland. Preliminary card fighter Justin Salas got a 45 day medical suspension after his TKO loss to Tim Means.
The above mentioned Eddie Wineland, who suffered a nasty looking cut on his forehead and was also given a 60 day suspension.
UFC on FX 3 took place June 8 at BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla., and was headlined by Demetrious Johnson vs. Ian McCall in the UFC’s first-ever flyweight main event.
The full list of UFC on FX 3 medical suspensions included:
