The Ultimate Fighter 16 Episode 5 Recap
Following the loss at last week’s episode of The Ultimate Fighter, Julian Lane takes the loss hard and breaks down in the locker room. He brings up making the wrong decision in picking his opponent after drawing the shortest straw, something the fighters of Team Carwin learn of and are shocked by the odd methods.
Back at the house Lane and Matt Secor get into again but this time Lane wants to fight, since he’s got nothing to lose. These two have been at each other since walking into the house. Finally cooler heads prevail but you can guess that these two might be seeing one another at the finale.
Some of the guys on Team Nelson are complaining about the lake of training and the unorganized training sessions of Roy Nelson, but the heavyweight sees no problems. The team only trains once a day and many would like two but hey Nelson says they can just go for a swim at the house.
Fight Announcement: Team Carwin picks Nic Herron-Webb of Team Nelson to face Igor Araujo.
You know the drill; it’s time for the weekly The Ultimate Fighter prank. When Team Carwin gets back from training they hear the giggles of school kids as another fighter’s bed has been abducted. This time it was Mike Ricci. Who if you remember had flour poured on him in the first prank of the season. The kidnapper moved the bed to the top of the gazebo and sent Ricci on a witch hunt as to who the kidnapper was. Ricci guess right on the first try as he targeted the guy fighting later, Nic Webb. The Team Nelson fighter thinks it’s the funniest thing ever as the guys get Ricci’s bed down.
Fight time – Igor Araujo (Team Carwin) vs. Nic Herron-Webb (Team Nelson)
Round One: Araujo gets a takedown 15 seconds into the fight and moves to full mount at 90 seconds. Webb gives up his back shortly after and gets flattened out by Araujo. The round ends and it was dominate for Team Carwin but he was unable to finish the fight despite being in that dominate position for most of the round.
Round Two: Right away Araujo goes for a takedown but Webb defends and uses the kimura to reveres and end up on top. Webb isn’t working much from the top and at the halfway point gets revered by Araujo who doesn’t do much there either. As the round nears the end Webb regains top position and finishes with some ground and pound before the bell. Neither fighter clearly won the round but Webb looked to have stolen that round.
Igor Araujo wins by Majority Decision
Everyone though it should have gone to a third round but Team Carwin is now up 3-1 on Team Nelson. Tune in next week on The Ultimate Fighter as Roy Nelson shows his frustration gets mad at his fighters.
