The main event might have fallen apart due to injury, but the show must go on and we were treated to a great night of fights at Maximum Fighting Championship 37. With MFC bringing in some world-class Bantamweights and plenty of familiar faces on the card, it was worth investing your Friday night in.
MMA has been on hiatus for the first third of the month and fight fans addicted to the sport are starting to going through withdraws. Thankfully those of you suffering from the shakes get your fix this with Friday’s MFC 37. Things begin to pick up from there as there will be two UFC events as well as LFC 20.
The premier Canadian MMA organization is back with another stellar card this Saturday with MFC 37: True Grit. Pitting home-grown talent with some of the best free agents on the market is what Maximum Fighting Championship continues to bring with each event.
It was a well-hyped fight, but one that played out perhaps even more one-sided than imagined. The always vocal Chael Sonnen had talked his way into a title shot at 205 lbs, yet champion Jon “Bones” Jones wasn’t impressed by the verbal acrobatics, and certainly wasn’t impressed by Sonnen’s skills. Landing shots in the clinch and easily winning the wrestling battle, Jones broke a toe, but absolutely dispatched his opponent with little danger and maximum damage.
This morning Bellator MMA announced their first 2013 summer series event on June 19th from the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma. The Bellator 96 main card will feature the opening round of the four man light heavyweight tournament and is headlined by a lightweight title fight between Michael Chandler and Dave Jansen.
Coming off last weekend’s UFC on Fox event, San Jose, California will once again play host to some MMA action. World Combat Series is hosting its 10th event from inside the Parkside Hall with 12 live fights. Before the fight though there will be a MMA EXPO featuring over 60 top MMA brands, free seminars, tournaments and much more.
The champ is no stranger to tough fights, and Benson Henderson was more than ready for his test last Saturday, taking on Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez. The first round saw Melendez get into Henderson’s face and pressure the champ with overhand rights and striking in the pocket, taking the round on every score card and potentially setting the pace for the night.
Saturday night in Newark, NJ the UFC will host one of the most anticipated events of 2013. It will see title challenger Chael Sonnen take the light-heavyweight division’s most dominant champion in years, Jon Jones.

Due to a previously scheduled Arena Football game at the HP Pavilion, today’s UFC on FOX 7 weigh-ins were held less than a mile away at the California Theater. The small theater was completely filled with cheering fans and all the fighters they came to see made weight.

Amidst everything else going on, the UFC has themselves a busy day today with the UFC on FX 6 taking place in Australia and The Ultimate Fighter 16 finale weigh-ins. All 24 fighters made weight today for tomorrow’s event that will crown The Ultimate Fighter 16 welterweight winner.

SAN JOSE, Cal. – Still recovering from Saturday’s UFC 148, MMAValor.com was inside the HP Pavilion for today’s UFC on FUEL TV 4 weigh-ins. A few of the fighters would need to step onto the scale behind a towel but all 22 fighters on the UFC on FUEL TV 4 fight card made weight.
