With Bellator still on summer vacation the UFC filled the month of April with four fight cards featuring nine fighters that appeared on last months MMA Valor Fighter Rankings. Two of those nine were champions who successfully defeated their titles and five of the other seven also walked away with victories this past month.

This morning Bellator MMA announced their first 2013 summer series event on June 19th from the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma. The Bellator 96 main card will feature the opening round of the four man light heavyweight tournament and is headlined by a lightweight title fight between Michael Chandler and Dave Jansen.

This past month saw some exciting MMA action and some not so well, but as a whole the month of February produced several meaningful bouts to MMA Rankings. Tonight’s Bellator 86 marked the long awaited promotional debut of the light heavyweight star, King Mo Lawal. Out of action for over a year, King Mo finally stepped into the Bellator cage in the opening round of the season eight light heavyweight tournament. The fight lasted less than four minutes but that was all the time needed for the former Strikeforce champion to make a statement.
With Bellator finally in HD and the world paying attention, we’ve got some serious firepower on deck for Bellator 86 this Thursday. A welterweight tournament winner will get his shot at the title as another 170lb. tourney begins, plus the debut of King Mo makes this a night to remember.
The 2012 year ended with a barrage of event in December, including UFC 155 that would reshape to the top of the heavyweight MMA rankings. Junior Dos Santos defended his title in a rematch against Cain Velasquez in the night’s main event with the challenger avenging his only loss and recapturing the title.
