Hailing from Kingston, Pennyslvania and training out of Swoyersville, Jimy “The Kid” Hettes left his mark on the regional circuit, taking out all fighters that stood in his path, earning himself two championships and a UFC contract.

When you think of out of this world submissions in MMA one of the first on the list is the gogoplata which became famous from fighters like Shinya Aoki and Nick Diaz both landing then in MMA fights. It is a submission where the foot or shin is trapped in front of the neck/ trachea and the arms are locked behind the opponents head to add pressure and lock in the submission. ADCC Brings Back The Superfight

Recent announcements have left Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fans in utter shock and excitement for the potential greats to be returning to action in one great world championship event. The event takes place in Nottingham England on September 24th and 25th. The ADCC is better known as the Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Wrestling World Championships and has quickly become the worlds most intense and legitimate Jiu Jitsu tournament since it began in 1998.

Roger Gracie Keeps the Family Name in MMA

For Roger Gracie, fighting is part of a family tradition. The arts of Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu have been passed down through many generations of the extended family. Over the years, the name has lost some of its magic within MMA, though the younger Gracie fighters, including Roger, are looking to change that. Being part of such a large history of the sport, Gracie works to keep the family name in the sport for as long as he can.

The Challenge: Training MMA at the Lion’s Den Week 2 Update

So it has been 2 weeks since my last update and I have attended 4 or 5 more grappling classes at The Den (formerly The Lion’s Den AZ). The training has been going really well and my cardio fitness has improved dramatically. When I first started I would only last for 1 or 2 five-minute rounds of sparring before I hit the wall and gassed out. After only a few weeks, I am now able to roll for 4 six-minute rounds and still have some energy left.
