With the Overeem fiasco finally brought to a head, UFC 146 doesn’t have the title fight fans wanted, but it’s a title fight none-the-less. Coming in on short notice, former Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir will step up and take on the seemingly unstoppable Junior Dos Santos as the main event of this all heavyweight PPV.  Heavyweight’s equal big cash for us more often than not and this card will be no exception.

With just over a week before the heavyweight takeover the UFC 146 main card, the Strikeforce heavyweights take center stage on Saturday as Strikeforce finally complete their heavyweight grand prix. Josh Barnett and Daniel Cormier will square off in the night’s main event to crown a Strikeforce grand prix champion in what is likely the promotions the second to last heavyweight bout.

We all know that a surprise urine test that Alistair Overeem took came back with higher than allowed testosterone levels, and since then the UFC 146 card has been held hostage amid a series of rumors and questions.  Recently some of those questions got answered and here’s what we know as of now.

Alistair Overeem Issues a Familiar Statement

On the heels of Frank Mir being announced as the new opponent for Junior Dos Santos at UFC 146, the man originally scheduled to face JDS, Alistair Overeem has finally spoken. The former Strikeforce and Dream Heavyweight champion issued a statement early this morning through Authentic Sports Management.

The move was expected but the timing wasn’t. Last night UFC President Dana White dropped a twitter bombshell that the UFC 146 headliner Alistair Overeem has been replaced by Frank Mir, who will know face the UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos on May 26th.
