What’s Next for Carlos Condit [POLL]

It didn’t take long after the judge’s scorecards were read for Saturday night’s UFC 143 main event for the new interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit to be asked what’s next. With Georges St. Pierre out of action tell probably the latter half of the year, Condit must now decide to defend the interim title or wait for GSP to recover. Should he choose to defend the belt there are a few options out there as well.

It’s rare when the rankings don’t see any changes but the outcomes from fights held in the month of January didn’t changes things in any division. That might have due to the fact only four fighters in our top five ranks actually fought last month. Not to worry though because February will see nine top five fighters step into the cage, including three fights where both competitors are ranked.

Delay of Georges St. Pierre vs. Nick Diaz Bout Adding Fuel to the Fire

Fans have been dying to see UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre fight former Strikeforce 170 pound title holder Nick Diaz, ever since the announcement that they would be fighting in October of last year. You all know the story; Diaz missed a couple of key press conferences to promote the bout and was subsequently replaced by former WEC welterweight king Carlos Condit. St. Pierre then would withdraw from the Condit bout due to a knee injury and Diaz went on to fight BJ Penn in a fight that was elevated into the main event slot at UFC 137.

It’s amazing how fast time flies. It doesn’t seem that long ago when we watched the quirky Diego Sanchez on the first season of The Ultimate Fighter. Sanchez would go on to finals of the Middleweight tournament and pound Kenny Florian en route to a TKO victory. Since then Sanchez has managed to keep himself relevant in the UFC but not without having to face adversity.

To start off the year right and one up ourselves we offer up first rankings of the year along with the addition of the flyweights (125 lbs.) to the ranks. With the UFC introducing the division early this year and crowning their first ever flyweight champion before the year is out it was only fitting.

Jon Fitch Returns to Action Against Johnny Hendricks at UFC 141

At UFC 141, Jon Fitch looks to end a 10 month layoff from the Octagon when he faces top 15 ranked welterweight and former Oklahoma State wrestler Johnny Hendricks. Fitch has been out dealing with a shoulder injury following a bout that was ruled a draw with former lightweight and welterweight champion BJ Penn. Fitch surprisingly found his back on the mat against Penn, who was mostly expected to keep the fight standing.
