Welcome back to The Challenge. I have now been taking kickboxing classes for two and a half weeks and the biggest difference is definitely the cardio. Striking really is more intense than grappling in terms of cardio. There are many positions in grappling where you can rest, but this is not true in Muay Thai. I have never tried a sport where the actions are more foreign to me than kickboxing. None of the motions or movements I’ve learned in 20 years of soccer and multiple seasons of baseball and wrestling have even slightly prepared me for this. The footwork, body position and hand placement is so precise. Not really one of my strong points.
