Strikeforce: Henderson vs Sobral Breakdown

This Saturday on Showtime, Strikeforce: Henderson vs. Sobral will be live from St. Louis. The night will be headlined by a rematch over ten years in the making between MMA veterans Dan Henderson and Renato Sobral. The card has been ravaged by injuries leading up the Saturday, losing two fighters on the main card that forced Strikeforce to scramble for replacements.

Can “The Law” Prevail in a “Ruthless” Brawl?

On December 4th Matt “The Law” Lindland (22-7) looks to battle with “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler (17-6)  in what some are considering a must win bout for Lindland, at Strikeforce: Henderson vs. Babalu 2.  A victory for Lindland would most likely propel him into the middleweight top 10 mix, and make him a definite title contender within the Strikeforce organization.  However, a loss could push the 40-year-old fighter one step closer to retirement.

Lawler vs. Lindland booked for December 4th Strikeforce

The rumored Strikeforce fight between Matt Lindland and Robbie Lawler on December 4th in St Louis has now been signed. They will be added to a card that is expected to include Dan Henderson vs. Renato “Babalu” Sobral, Paul Daley vs. Scott Smith and Herschel Walker against an undetermined opponent.

Today Strikeforce sent out an “insiders” email for the upcoming Strikeforce event in San Jose, California on October 9th. The email talks about Nick Diaz and Sarah Kaufman, the Strikeforce men’s and women’s Welterweight World Champions returning to the cage. Kaufman will face off against Marloes Coenen, while Diaz will face an opponent to be named in the coming days.

Chael Sonnen in politics

Well apparently Chael Sonnen believes he can beat anyone in the cage and also in the political world too. Sonnen a republican in Oregon is going to be running for state representative. Sonnen is following in his training partners Matt Lindland’s footsteps who ran for the same seat in 2008 coming up short though. He recently did an interview with Fox News about his political stance and background.

Today were going to shine some light on what happens when you just can’t hang with the best in the world anymore. So many young athletes dream about making it to the highest level of competition out there, very few make it, even fewer have longevity. How could one expect to last in a sport where the other competitors travel the world just to learn how to take your head off with punches, kicks, or submissions? Then one day your manager gets the call that you are not good enough anymore for the spotlight, and your whole world comes crashing down in an instant. All that time, money, blood, sweat, missed family time, and tears now leaves you with an empty void, and a small savings to show for what you once were.
