Bellator MMA CEO Bjorn Rebney has said on many occasions that Bellator would never become a feeder system for the UFC. He’s also stated that only under the right circumstances would Bellator sign fighter’s castoff by the UFC.

The first month of 2013 starts out pretty slow in regards to MMA. Fans don’t get a major event until the second Saturday of the month when Strikeforce bids farewell with one final event on January 12th. It’s not until the third week when things really begin to pick up as Bellator’s eight season kicks off on Spike, The Ultimate fighter 17 begin and back to back Saturdays of UFC action.
Another UFC event, another fighter injured. It seems like a recurring theme these days as you can never count on a card until they actually walk out to the octagon, and even then they could get injured on the way there. The price you pay for a physical sport where the training camps are just as hard, or if not harder, then the actual fight. Think about it, fighters, eat, sleep, and train consistently. They are breaking down their bodies more than they are resting them. It will and always is an inevitable vicious cycle.

The UFC will return to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on October 13th with UFC 153: Aldo vs. Koch. Tickets for the event will go on sale this Thursday August 23rd and the complete UFC 153 fight card has now been finalized. The card will take place at the HSBC Arena, which held the successful UFC 134 and UFC 142 events.
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has recently been on a crusade to have himself removed from the UFC roster. Following his loss to Ryan Bader at UFC 144: Japan, Rampage has been publicly voicing his displeasure with the UFC as well as the business practices conducted by ZUFFA, and has verbally professed his desire to leave the flagship MMA organization.
Ultimate Fighter winner Ryan Bader said that Quinton “Rampage” Jackson would not pull off one of his famous slams against him at UFC 144. He also stated that he’d defeat Jackson in front of the Japanese fans that adore the former PRIDE star. Well Bader was only half right on his predictions, lucky for him though he got the most important one right.
Last night’s episode (#17) of The MMA Pulse primarily featured talk of the upcoming UFC Undisputed 3 video game set to hit store shelves next month.
