Next Month’s UFC 161 suffered a major loss this past weekend when the night’s main event was scratched and replaced by the co-main event. In an attempt to bolster the main card, a heavyweight bout between Roy Nelson and Stipe Miocic was added. The side effects of the resulting turn of events have currently left two fighters on the UFC 161 bench.

With Bellator still on summer vacation the UFC filled the month of April with four fight cards featuring nine fighters that appeared on last months MMA Valor Fighter Rankings. Two of those nine were champions who successfully defeated their titles and five of the other seven also walked away with victories this past month.
This past month saw some exciting MMA action and some not so well, but as a whole the month of February produced several meaningful bouts to MMA Rankings. Champions Renan Barao and Eduardo Dantas made successful title defenses this month and Alexander Shlemenko was crowned the new Bellator middleweight champion.
The UFC on Fuel TV 7 proved to be an entertaining event. Renan Barao retained his interim Bantamweight title by defeating Michael McDonald with an arm triangle choke in the fourth round. Nevertheless, in the end, Barao used all his tools and ability to put McDonald away and retain his belt.
Renan Barao made a successful defense of his interim bantamweight belt tonight at the UFC on FUEL TV 7, while also extending his winning streak to 20. The UFC takes to England once again, and while there are no hometown heroes in the UFC on FUEL TV 7 main event, I doubt you’ll find anyone complaining in the ticket line. With Dominick Cruz sidelined for an extended period of time, Renan Barao is forced to defend the interim title, taking on the young and ultra-talented Michael McDonald. Also, we have a possible number one contender stop in the Featherweight division, as Cub Swanson faces Dustin Poirier in another explosive contest.
